Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Eagle Swimmers split dual with the Gresham Gophers


The Boys and Girls Swimming Teams interrupted their Winter Break with a morning of racing at the Hood River Aquatic Center January 3rd. The Gresham Gophers had a close meet with the boys, but the Gophers came out on top 94-64 – while the Eagle girls won by a 124-42 margin.

Standouts for the Eagles today were Sarah Arpag, Celilo Brun, Chad Klaas and Faith Ocheskey who won all their individual events. Sarah, Celilo and Faith joined with Lillie Tomlinson to also take top honors in both the 200 free and 400 freestyle relays as well.

Chad joined forces with Saylor Sundby, Mario Jaimez Villa and David Hecksel to win the 200 free relay also.

Other individual event winners include Adam Burke with a top place in the 200 free and a 2nd in the 400 free; David with a win in the 200 IM and a 2nd place finish in the 100 back; and Alea McCarty who swam to first in the 400 free and was 3rd in the 200 free.

Olivia Sumerfield and Lillie had a double double – with Olivia finishing 2nd in both the 200 Im and 400 free and Lillie finishing 2nd in both the 200 free and 100 backstroke. Saylor had a 2nd place finish in the 100 free, as did Chloe Bullock, Mario was 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, and Campbell Keller flew to 2nd in the 100 butterfly.

Other Eagles scoring points against Gresham included: Corbett Blackman 3rd in 200 free and 3rd in the 100 free, Hazel Farr 3rd in the 100 back, Jessica Galvez 3rd in the 50 free, Miyuki Gerald 3rd in the 400 free, and 5th in the 200 free, Abby McCormack 3rd in the 100 breast, Maria Sandoval 3rd in 100 butterfly, and Sarah Wang 3rd in the 100 freestyle.

Next up the Eagles host Ridgeview on January 10th at 4pm at the Hood River Aquatic Center.
