Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Swimmers Dual in the Pool with Intermountain Conference Teams Redmond and Ridgeview



The Hood River Valley Eagles boys and girls swimmers took on Intermountain Conference teams Ridgeview and Redmond in a double dual meet Thursday at the Hood River Aquatic Center. The girls came out ahead in both duals HRV 119 – Ridgeview 41, and HRV 139 – Redmond 26. For the boys, they lost a close dual with the strong Redmond team HRV 80- Redmond 88 and they came out on top in the other dual, HRV 99- Ridgeview 50.

There was a very close race yesterday to start off the individual events of the meet – Madeket Greenleaf won the 200m freestyle by 0.06 seconds over Ridgeview’s Aria Mascall. Madeket also swam to a 2nd place finish in the 100 fly. Sarah Arpag continued her domination of the 100 fly and 100 backstroke events by finishing 1st in both, while Faith Ocheskey won both the 50 free and 100 freestyles to help the girls lead the Eagles to their wins.

Adam Burke won the 400 free for the boys and was 5th in the 200 free, while Olivia Sumerfield won the girls 400 free and was 3rd in the 200 IM. David Hecksel sprinted to the win in the 50 free and was 2nd in the 100 back. Clayton Lee was 1st in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 200 IM, while Luke Southall took top honors in the 200 freestyle and was 2nd in the 100 freestyle. Celilo Brun was 2nd in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, while Chloe Bullock swam to 2nd in the 400 free. Owen Summersett was 2nd in the 400 freestyle and 4th in the 200 free, while Lillie Tomlinson sprinted to 2nd place in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 free against the Redmond teams.

Gavin Hackett was 3rd in the 100 fly and 4th in the 100 breaststroke. Mary Rose Kissinger was 3rd in the 100 fly, to finish the Eagles sweep of that event this meet. Emma Titus was 3rd in both the 200 free and 100 breaststroke events. Abby McCormack finished 3rd in the 50 free and 4th in the 100 free, while Campbell Keller was 4th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 backstroke. Teddy Parkinson was 4th in the 100 breaststroke while Tristin Smith swam to 3rd in the 100 freestyle.

The Eagles have just one more dual meet vs The Dalles on Thursday, February 6th. Seniors from both Hood River and The Dalles will be honored – come join us at 4pm at the Hood River Aquatic Center that day.
